FNS forårsmøde med Dr. Vassilis Kokatas ( kun fredag)

Fredagens tema: ”A Clinical Approach for Prescribing Yoked Prisms” og ”Entering the patients' mindset through the visual process

Dr. Vassilis Kokotas er uddannet Optometrist fra Italien og senere taget sin doktorgrad på Aston University i 2016.

Der bliver 2 sessioner i løbet af fredagen:

  1. A Clinical Approach for Prescribing Yoked Prisms
Yoked prisms are considered a useful tool for managing and treating various conditions but their use is based more on the art and less on the science of prescribing. During this session we will explore the perceptual and behavioral optics of prisms, review their use and look extensively on tests suggesting their application. We will focus on what to look for during retinoscopy, V.O. star recordings, analytical testing and visual-body responses, that will help you decide the appropriate power and direction of a powerful pair of yoked prisms along with recognizing the alterations of resulting performance.
  2. Entering the patients' mindset through the visual process
A mindset is a group of beliefs that support behaviors and reactions in different contexts. Everyday we examine our patients and receive useful information about their visual function that often describes their visual behavior. We can even predict their tolerance to visual stress, in terms of handling and recovering and even determine the embeddedness of this behavior. What we're missing is what their visual mindset suggests which actually controls the outcome in a non-conscious way. During this session we are going to evaluate and reconsider the SILO/SOLI effects, as experienced by our patients in the exam and VT room, in terms of deepening our understanding of their visual mindset. This will become a practical and useful tool in addressing our patients' needs and habitual patterns in a really effective way.
